Yesterday, like so many others in Houston, we took a surprise field trip to see Endeavour, and it was pretty amazing to see such a great part of history up close and personal. The shuttle program has been around as long as both JD and I can remember, practically our entire lifetimes, so when we found out we had the chance to see the space shuttle up close, we dropped everything to make it to Ellington Field and be a part of it. I always enjoyed watching shuttle launches at school, going to NASA Space Center to explore the shuttle replica, and tracking the missions, but our son Finn will grow up in a time without an active space shuttle, so it was important to us that we share it with him. I’m sure he won’t remember it, but at least we have the photos to show him he was there! It’s been so fun to see the excitement Endeavour has brought to our city this week, and I’m glad we got to join in wishing a final farewell to the space shuttle program.
